PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS:

Last month our annual Christmas Party and meeting were held at the home of Jim and Myrna Valle.  There was
plenty of food and drink and thanks to everyone and especially Jim and Myrna for hosting our event.  The standard
meeting was opened and the first thing on the agenda was to thank Bill and Kathleen Schrodel for the annual
picnic.  A photo plaque was presented to Bill Schrodel and a special thanks.  Next was a photo of Paul Buckley
for 20 years of service with Amtrak.  Congratulations to Paul.  We discussed the transformer repaired by MRC and
Tim Sandors' excellent service.  We also discussed the layout set up at Bryner Chevrolet in PA and the $200.00
from Paul Myers.

The main subject of the meeting was the Springfield Trip.  The rooms have been reserved and the meal menus
have been passed out.  The next meeting will be the finalized agenda.  It seems the weekend of January 29, 30,
31, 2010 is just a few weeks away.  If you haven’t settled with Dick Lush, please do so, or make arrangements with
him for the trip.  The meeting was closed and then the fun began.  Tickets were drawn and the annual Christmas
Exchange started.  This year there was very little exchanging except for a few engines.  There were structures,
train cars, books and engines.  The Christmas Exchange was a huge success with everyone going home with a
wonderful gift.  Upstairs, the ladies were having their exchange with very little exchanging, but everyone receiving
very nice gifts.  Then there was the food, and I mean lots of food.  You name it and it was there.  Our Christmas
Party, as usual, was a great success.  Thanks to Myrna Valle and the women of The First State Model Railroad
Club.

My special thanks go out to the ladies of the First State Model Railroad Club.  First, to my wife, Carol, who
rearranges and edits my writings for the monthly Newsletter.  Second, is Joyce Stockslager, who edits the
Newsletter and sends it on its way by email or snail mail.  Then there is Kathleen Schrodel who hosts our annual
Club Picnic and Myrna Valle who organizes and sets up our Club Christmas Party.  Also, Paula Buckley, who for
years hosted the Club Picnic.  I also would like to give special thanks to Paula Buckley, Helen Drummer, Karen
Kaden, Maddie Kline, Carol McWethy, Helene Reed, Lena Roy, Kathleen Schrodel, Ann Souder, Joyce
Stockslager, Myrna Valle, Svetlana Vogl and Carolyn Thompson, who over the years have opened their homes for
our monthly meetings.
