M. at the home of Jim and Myrna Valle, 13 Medinah Court, Dover, DE. (302-678-0283).  Our usual business meeting
will take place and then we will enjoy our Christmas Exchange for train guys and their wives/girlfriends.  Everyone
should bring a train-related gift, books, coffee mugs, train cars, engines or structures (assembled or still in the shrink-
wrap) for the guys and the ladies should bring an appropriate gift for exchange.  The gifts should not be too
expensive and should be wrapped in Christmas paper or plain paper.  After the meeting, we are going to have some
Christmas fun.  Also, please bring an hors d’oeuvre, finger food, snack or dessert for all to enjoy on this occasion.
Call Myrna to see what food items are needed.  If you did not get a postcard, please let me know, or if you have any
questions about the meeting/party, please call me at 302-222-7552.

PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS:

Last month’s meeting at the Jarrell Station was productive with discussions about our upcoming show at Jenkintown,
PA and possible February Greenburg Show.

Tim Kaden brought some of his structures for the White Elephant Table.  They went like hotcakes.  He said he has
plenty more to give a new home to.  He has priced them at half the selling price plus put together with photo-quality
ready to set on your layout.   If you would like to purchase some of his super quality structures, call Tim at 302-697-
7066.  This is a chance of a lifetime.  If you don’t think so, go to Timonium, MD and just price the kits.

Ron Mason from Magnolia, DE gave a seminar on some of his prints, train related, that he sells at art shows.  He will
also sketch your favorite Loco for you.  He can be reached at 302-335-8535.

November 11, 2009, a Wednesday, Les Souder, Richard Stockslager and Jim Thompson took three (3) of our
transformers to MRC Model Rectifier Corporation for repairs.  While there we met Tim Sandors who is the Customer
Service Manager.  It was about 11:00 A.M.  He told us to go get some lunch and come back in about one hour.  We
had lunch and went back in an hour and he had fixed all three transformers, replacing some parts.  He didn’t charge
us a cent.  Les was asking about the new MRC BlackBox.  It’s a revolutionary new accessory for people who want to
use sound decoder-equipped dual mode locomotives, but don’t want to convert to DCC.  You can control all the
sounds in your dual decoder-equipped locomotives.  Tim tells us to wait a minute and comes back with one, hands it
to Les and says see if your Club can use this.  It is an $80.00 or $90.00 item.  Hats off to MRC and Timothy Sandors.

November 22, 2009, seven members set out for a day show at Bryner Chevrolet Used Car Showroom.  We left Les’ at 6:
00 A.M., getting to Jenkintown, PA at about 8:00 A.M.  We had the 10 x 46-foot layout up and running by 9:00 A.M.
Paul Myers had breakfast sandwiches and coffee for us all.  He also had lunch for us which was hotdog, kielbosa or
meatball sandwiches and sodas.  As usual we took in $200.00 for the show which is a super great show.  You can ask
the 1,000 – 1,100 people who walked  through the doors, complete with town police directing traffic.  A great thanks
to Paul Myers for having us and the guys who set up and explained numerous aspects of model railroading.  They are
John Gray, Kevin Herrmann, Richard Lush, Jeff Shockley, Les Souder, Larry Wheeler and Jim Thompson.

There was a new Club flyer designed and printed by Joyce Stockslager, our newsletter printer and distributor.  It was
needed for the Jarrell Station Open House on November 7, 2009.  Super Thanks to Joyce for the great looking flyer.
Check it out.  They are in the entranceway to the layout room.

The last couple of weeks have been sad for our Club, as one of our members, Lee Holleman of Bear, DE passed
away.  Lee was born July 22, 1920 and departed us on November 4, 2009 at the age of 89.  Lee was always
suggesting ideas on how to  make things better.  He will be missed by all.

Richard Stockslager’s Mom had not been doing well and I stopped by to see how she was and Joyce said her brother
Ken Darling had passed away the previous day.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joyce and her family.  The next
day I stopped by and was told Richard’s Mom, Louse May Stockslager had left this Earth.  She was 92 years old.  One
of the thoughts I was left with at her funeral was “Cherish the time you have and the memories you share.  Being
friends with someone is not an opportunity, but a sweet responsibility.”  Our thoughts and prayers again go out to the
Holleman and Stockslager families.

The Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA. is fast approaching, just around the corner on January 29, 30
and 31, 2010.  Dick Lush has been working on coordinating the project.  The cost is $160.00 per person or $320.00 a
couple.  So far, we have 11 rooms filled, with 2 persons to a room or a couple.  I have reserved 12 rooms and can get
more.  We will by leaving Friday, January 29 from Les and Ann Souder's.  We will go to the Cracker Barrel for dinner
Friday night.  Saturday the men will go to breakfast  and to the show and the ladies can do whatever they wish,
possibly another visit to the Yankee Candle location.  Saturday night will be dining in the Hotel with chat time
afterwards in someone’s room.  Sunday the men and women will go to breakfast together and then the men go to the
train show until noon.  We will then all depart for Dover with a stop somewhere for dinner.  I need a full count by the
next meeting for rooms and armbands.  Also I will have a sheet for dinner meals.  So far, this is the list: Bill and Jean
Benzin, Gary Bryant, Paul and Paula Buckley, John Gray, Kevin Herrmann, Dick Lush, Paul and Lena Roy,  Jim and
Carolyn Thompson, Les and Ann Souder, Jim and Myrna Valle, Bill and Kathleen Schrodel, Larry and Anna Wheeler
and Sharon.  Paul Buckley also said a friend of his showed interest in joining us.  Verify trip information with Dick
Lush.  Be at the next meeting at Valle’s for details or call 302-222-7552.

So much for the Newsletter, let’s bring a gift and food and have lots of Christmas fun at Valle’s on December 8.

See you at the December 8 meeting.  Jim Thompson, President
