NEXT MEETING:

The next meeting of The First State Model Railroad Club, Inc. will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 7:30 P.M.
at 1282 McKee Road (the old REA/Magnum Building) in Dover, DE.  From Route 1 or Route 13, go west on
Scarborough Road about two miles and the building is on the right.  From Dover, off Route 8, take Saulsbury Road
north which turns into McKee Road and the building is on the left next to Kenton Child Care Center.  Come early and
check out the progress.  If lost, call 302-222-7552.

PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS:

Last month’s meeting at the Jarrell Station Building was informative with most of the Club problems being worked
out.  A thank you photo of David McWethy was presented, thanking David and Carol for hosting the February meeting
at their home.  The Club liability insurance was discussed with the Club acquiring $1,000,000. liability insurance.
This was taken care of by the Club Treasurer, Richard Stockslager, who sent a check for $100.00 (the cost of the
insurance) to L & W Insurance.

The layout is up and running with all but two modules installed.  The layout is a big “U,” so bring some trains to run.
There is still work to be done like wiring and scenery and the in-and- out to the yard has to be built.  Be sure to stop
around on Thursday nights for some hands-on projects.  The dues have increased from $25.00 to $60.00 a year.  Be
sure to get up with the Club Treasurer, Richard Stockslager, to see how much you owe.  You might have a credit.

The Club By-Laws have to be changed for the new dues.  Junior members (any person between the ages of 12 – 17)
will pay half the active full member price.  The entire new proposal will be on hand and read for discussion, changes
and approval.

A new Club flier has been drafted by Richard and Joyce Stockslager.  Be sure to check it out at the next meeting.  It
also lists our new website www.fsmrrc.org set up by Website Director, Ed Mace.

It wasn’t enough that there was a Hartly Train Show last month, but Kevin Herrmann suggested we go to Harrisburg the
same day.  So, six of us met at Les Souder’s house that morning.  Included in the trip were Jim Valle, Paul Roy, Les
Souder, Kevin Herrmann, Richard Stockslager and Jim Thompson.  We stopped for breakfast and got to the show
around 10:00 A.M.  It was a little show but had different items such as a lot of Pennsy memorabilia and trains.  On the
way back, we stopped at Rules Model Train Shop in Manheim, PA and spent more of the green stuff.  Then Jim Valle
said “Let’s stop in Strasburg in the strip mall at the Strasburg Train Book Shop and Annex.”  Well, we spent more of the
green stuff.  Then Kevin said “Let’s stop by the Strasburg Train Store at the Railroad.”  Well, you guessed it.  We spent
more of the green stuff.  All in all, it was a great getaway and a super great find for many numerous items we had
been looking for.  After dinner, we got home around 7:00 P.M.  P.S.: Rumor has it that Kevin went back to Manheim,
PA and got two more super fine engines.

My next subject is the “White Elephant Table.”  Whether it be at a train show like Timonium, MD or The Delmarva
Train People in Greensboro, MD or our own train meeting, the idea is for individuals to clean out their train stuff they
no longer want and for other train members to find a good deal from one train member to another train member.  This
is not the place for a dealer to make a buck.  If the dealers want a good deal, show up at the meetings.  You can also
bring stuff with you for the White Elephant Table to pass on a good deal to a Club member.

Last but not least, some of our members have been under the weather lately.  Jim Reed had knee surgery and is
recovering slowly.  Paul Buckley has had hip surgery and is recovering fine.  Bill Benzin has eye problems with
floaters and a tear in his eye, but still has no exact diagnosis.  We wish a speedy recovery to these members and hurry
back because we miss you.

See you at the meeting, Jim Thompson, FSMRRC President
