      MAY 2009

NEXT MEETING:

The next meeting of The First State Model Railroad Club, Inc. will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 7:
30 P.M. at 1282 McKee Road (the old REA/Magnum Building) in Dover, DE.  From Route 1 or Route 13, go
west on Scarborough Road about two miles and the building is on the right.  From Dover, off Route 8, take
Saulsbury Road north which turns into McKee Road and the building is on the left next to Kenton Child
Care Center.  Come early and check out the progress.  If lost, call 302-222-7552.

PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS:

Last month’s meeting at Jarrell Station (REA Building) was really great.  A number of members came early
and brought their running stock.  Numerous new modules have been constructed and the work was led by
Richard Stockslager.  All you have to do is think of one and Richard is busy cutting it out.  We even have
extras.  A special thanks to the Thursday nite crew.  If you want to join the Thursday nite crew, just show up.

The big project of our May meeting will be revising the Constitution, which was adopted July 9, 1985 and
revised January 13, 1987, January 12, 1988, April 14, 1992 and now May 12, 2009.  The change will be
the increase in the Club dues, which will change from $25.00 annually to $60.00 annually.  This change is
needed because we now have more expenditures since we have a facility for our meetings and gatherings.
The project was brought up months ago, discussed last month and will be voted on at this month’s meeting.
We thought it would be a completed change last month, but Les Souder said we had to table the vote until
next month.   A number of members have already paid their upgraded annual membership fee of $60.00.
Be sure to be at the meeting to express your feelings and to vote.

Last month a group of us went to Fred Patrick’s.  His building is coming along nicely and he has more
inventory than you can possibly imagine.  Give him a call and see if he has something you can’t live
without.

Our web page setup by Ed Mace is coming along fine.  Check it out for yourself at www.fsmrrc.org  and, if
you have any input, please give Ed a call or talk to him at the meeting or at a Thursday nite session.

The last thing to mention is that Jim Valle is giving a demonstration on how to make the most of
inexpensive buildings at the Wednesday night Delmarva Train People meeting on May 6, 2009 in the
Conference Room at the Caroline County Public Library in Greensboro, MD.  Call me at 302-222-7552 if
you want to follow a group of us attending the meeting.

See you at the meeting, Jim Thompson, FSMRRC President
