       JUNE 2009

NEXT MEETING:

The next meeting of The First State Model Railroad Club, Inc. will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 7:30
P.M. at 1282 McKee Road (the old REA/Magnum Building) in Dover, DE.  From Route 1 or Route 13, go west
on Scarborough Road about two miles and the building is on the right.  From Dover, off Route 8, take
Saulsbury Road north which turns into McKee Road and the building is on the left next to Kenton Child Care
Center.  Come early and check out the progress.  If lost, call 302-222-7552.

PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS:

Last month’s meeting was interesting with approval of the new changes to the by-laws.  Be sure to show up and
get a copy; if not call me or Joyce Stockslager and a set will be sent to you.

This month’s post card is a scene from somewhere on the layout.  See if you can find the scene and module
and call me.  The first one to identify the town will win a year’s subscription to the Delmarva Model Railroad
Magazine.  Ha Ha.  Speaking of layout modules, Richard Stockslager has built a new module.  It will be the
first time you will be inside and outside of a place at the same time.  Show up at the meeting and see what I
mean.

Our web site is up and running and doing fine.  I checked it out and it is something long overdue.  Our special
thanks to Ed Mace for his technical expertise.  If you have any information you would like to pass on to Ed,
please feel free to talk to him at our Thursday Run & Repair sessions or talk to him at the next meeting.  He is
the one with the name tag on that says Ed Mace.   Yes, there is a board with name tags.  I mentioned to
Richard that it would be nice if everyone had a name tag for new members to recognize other members, and
remember what I said about Richard, just think about it and he already has it in the works or completed.

The White Elephant table went well with a lot of deals being completed.  Thanks to all and keep up the
project.  Sodas are in the refrigerator at 50 cents thanks to Bill Schrodel.  Please be honest as there is no profit.

We are planning a Boy Scout Merit Badge session on November 14, 2009 at the Jarrell Building.  Jeff
Shockley, Paul Buckley and myself are coordinating this project and will need plenty of help and supplies.  We
have a limit of 10 to 12 boys.  Let us know if you have time or supplies.

We have only one set-up this year which is Oaks, PA.  The date is August 15-16, 2009.  That is the big one with
approximately 50,000 people in attendance.

I am also trying to get us back to Jenkinstown for a small Sunday Show on November 22, 2009.  That is the
show we got breakfast and lunch and they paid us $300.00 instead of the usual $200.00.  I hope to hear back
from our contact.

Last but not least, I almost forgot to mention, Les Souder is planning a trip to English’s Hobby Store.  This is the
company that owns Stewart and Bowser.  It is in Montoursville, PA.  It is about a 250 mile trip one way.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are in the planning.  The owner said, “Call in advance and he will have something
special planned for us.”  The date is Saturday, July 25, 2009.  So far approximately 15 people have committed
to this trip.  See Les or myself for arrangements.

See you at the meeting, Jim Thompson, FSMRRC President
